I am lucky to be retired and mostly, able to pick my fishing days and weather too. It is now late November and yesterday was a rare but lovely sunny day so off I went to one of my club, carp lakes. By the time I arrived (10am) it had started warm and it was not too long before the fish started surfacing and feeding. By 1pm I’d had maybe 12 fish off the top. The best was pushing 9lbs leather carp which sucked in the fly about 2mtr in front of me.

I must concentrate on fishing the margins more next time. There seems to be bigger fish patrolling there?
